Holiday Party and Fundraiser 2019 @ The Men's Home
Dec 7 @ 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm

Twice each year, we host a dinner and Speakers’ meeting to celebrate and say thank you to friends of the Home. We do the first in May and another in December.

We have the event catered and some items made by residents and some potluck courtesy of our friends. We eat and visit from 6:30 to about 8:00 p.m. and then set up for a meeting where this year we welcome Edith P. from Nebraska.

Although dinner is free, the event is a fundraiser for us. Your donations are of course appreciated but also crucial in allowing us to continue our mission. Because of your assistance we can continue to provide men in early recovery with the opportunity to live in a sober environment and prepare for a happy life on their own. Now in our sixty-sixth year, we are grateful for the opportunity to give back what was so freely given us.

We hope to see you for an evening of food and fellowship to benefit The Men’s Home.

Dawn Avery at Christ Church @ Christ Church
Feb 29 @ 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Dawn Avery, cellist/composer/vocalist is bringing her unique musical vision to Christ Church in Alexandria, VA for a concert to benefit The Men’s Home. She creates a contemporary world music soundscape from spiritual, pop and classical elements. Her calmly passionate vocals and soaring cello lines reflect a deep devotion rooted in her Native American heritage and love of sacred traditions. She has many recordings and projects, you can read and hear about them at dawnavery.com and on YouTube at bit.ly/dawnavery

Larry Mitchell is a Grammy award-winning producer, engineer and performer who has toured the world playing guitar with well-known artists including Tracy Chapman, Billy Squier, Ric Ocasek and Miguel Bosé. As an artist, he has released 9 solo records and won a San Diego Music Award for best pop jazz artist.

Kate Freer is a multimedia designer working in theater, film, and installation. Her background in film and computer science combine to generate work that is not only aesthetically beautiful, but pushes the boundaries of conventional theatrical video.

We are excited and grateful that Dawn, Larry, and Kate are giving of their time and talent.

There will be a short reception to follow the performance. Talk and light refreshments from 8:30-9:15 pm.

Men’s Home Non-Golf Tournament 2020
Sep 14 @ 11:00 am – 7:00 pm

The pandemic of 2020 has forced us to revise this year’s tournament. We feel that the idea of staging a safe event isn’t workable right now. However, there will be Men’s Home golf this year.

On Monday, September 14th we will send two foursomes out to play at Bristow Manor, in Bristow, Virginia. As the teams play the course, we’ll check in with coverage of the action on Facebook Live. You can pledge donations based on the strokes under par. Some suggestions for giving would be $10, 50, 100 or 500.

For more information and to help the Home, head over to the Tournament page.
